"MobLand" Season 1 Recap: Everything You Need to Know

Harry Da Souza spends his days mopping up the Harrigan family's messes while struggling to keep his strained marriage from completely disintegrating. When a drug-fueled Eddie stabs a nightclub patron and subsequently executes Tommy Stevenson, Harry immediately handles the cleanup. He intimidates witnesses, deletes security footage, and incinerates the physical evidence in the family's private crematorium.

Richie Stevenson launches a desperate search for his missing son, and his suspicions quickly fall on the Harrigans, forcing Conrad to put the entire syndicate on a war footing. Paranoia takes hold within the ranks, leading Conrad to execute his veteran adviser, Archie Hammond. The hit comes at the behest of Maeve, who falsely convinces her husband that Archie had been secretly collaborating with the Stevensons.

Tensions peak at Tommy's wake when the grieving mother, Vron Stevenson, publicly insults Maeve. In a misguided attempt to pacify a furious Maeve, Kevin slips his mother a sedative, but this only delays the inevitable. Upon waking at home, Maeve orchestrates a car bombing that eliminates her rival. Although Conrad claims the hit was his own strategic move during a family meeting, Vron's death undeniably pushes the conflict into total war.

Anticipating a retaliatory strike, Conrad orders all relatives to barricade themselves inside the family's Cotswolds estate. However, his eldest son, Brendan, tired of being branded a failure, and Conrad's illegitimate daughter, Seraphina, defy the lockdown. The two flee to Antwerp to execute a massive diamond deal. Knowing they are sitting ducks, Conrad immediately dispatches Harry to track them down.

Maeve views the rogue excursion as the perfect opportunity to rid herself of her stepdaughter. She contacts Richie Stevenson, leaking the runaways' coordinates and greenlighting Seraphina's assassination in exchange for Brendan's safety. Stevenson outsources the hit to Mexican cartel boss Jaime Lopez, who harbors an old grudge against Conrad. Lopez takes Brendan and Seraphina hostage, broadcasting a live feed to the Harrigans as he brutally executes Brendan with a chainsaw. Seraphina only survives thanks to Harry's timely intervention. He reaches out to Cat McAllister, a shadowy international criminal broker; a single phone call from her forces Lopez to instantly halt the execution and sever his alliance with Stevenson.

Simultaneously, the Harrigan clan lands in the crosshairs of a police task force. Detectives Ivan Fisk and Yvonne Mukasa plant undercover officer Alice (real name Nicola). She befriends Harry's wife, Jan, hoping to use her to gather evidence against Harry and the syndicate's higher-ups. As the gang war escalates, police brass demand immediate results, bringing retired detective Colin Tattersall out of the woodwork to take over the investigation.

Tattersall is a corrupt cop who has secretly been on Richie Stevenson's payroll for decades. Under the guise of recruiting Stevenson as an informant, Tattersall lures Fisk and Mukasa into a lethal ambush, allowing Richie to gun down both detectives. Assuming total control of the operation, Tattersall orders Alice to attend a dinner hosted by Conrad, who wants to scrutinize Jan's suspicious new friend. Alice is tasked with stealing DNA samples from the Harrigan estate to secure arrest warrants based on fabricated evidence.

Harry catches Alice bagging the DNA, but upon realizing a SWAT team is breaching the perimeter, he lets the agent go — secretly recording her confession regarding Tattersall's setup. Once Conrad and Maeve are hauled off to jail, Tattersall meets with Alice and hands her over to unidentified men who sedate and abduct her, disposing of a dangerous witness.

Meanwhile, Kevin Harrigan settles a deeply personal score. He tracks down Alan Rusby, a former prison guard who subjected him to severe abuse during a stint behind bars years prior, and murders him in cold blood. The execution restores Kevin's confidence and cements his bond with his wife, Bella, who shares a parallel trauma, having recently imprisoned her own father for sexually abusing her in childhood.

From behind bars, Maeve continues grooming Eddie, hoping to turn him into her personal puppet. She reveals a closely guarded family secret: Eddie's biological father is not Kevin, but Conrad, who conceived the boy during a past affair with Bella.

While Conrad sits in a cell, Harry discovers that the syndicate's true mole was never Archie, but family attorney O'Hara Delaney, who had been selling intel to Stevenson for a cut of the fentanyl profits. Cornered, the lawyer agrees to play double agent, and Harry's trap springs flawlessly. Two Stevenson hit squads sent to the Harrigan country estate and O'Hara's office are wiped out by explosives. Simultaneously, Harry and Kevin storm Richie's unprotected headquarters — the Sinful Monkey pub — and gun down both the rival boss and O'Hara, effectively decapitating the Stevenson syndicate.

With the Stevensons eradicated, Harry meets with Cat McAllister, who demands he switch sides and help dismantle the Harrigan empire. Ignoring her reminders of his debt and veiled threats against his family, Harry refuses to betray his crew, making a powerful enemy in Cat.

Kevin visits Conrad in prison, explicitly declaring that he is now calling the shots. Even though Kevin and Harry possess the audio recording of Alice that could exonerate the patriarch and Maeve, they deliberately delay their release. The two plan to let the old guard rot for a few weeks while they restructure the business on their own terms.

Harry returns home to Jan, announcing that Richie is dead and the immediate danger has passed. However, Jan's nerves finally shatter. Her frantic monologue about the constant, unpredictable violence of their lives escalates into a panic attack. In a moment of blind hysteria, she lashes out and accidentally plunges a kitchen knife into her husband's chest. Bleeding profusely, Harry staggers out of the kitchen and collapses on the floor.
